Sales Operations

Location: Alviso, California

 

Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with the SVP of Sales to create and implement overall sales strategies designed to achieve overall global business objectives.
  • Develop and implement communication vehicles to ensure clear dissemination of strategies to all geographic locations.
  • Establish and implement performance measures designed to track and report progress against the global sales strategy.
  • Help to ensure sales quotas reflect market opportunity versus past performance.
  • Use sales quotas and territories as key tools to maximize sales productivity.
  • Establish appropriate performance measures of sales management, account executives and sales support staff for tracking progress of specific plans and programs already in-place (e.g. Named accounts, account planning, sales pipeline and forecasts).
  • Build reporting capability to show pipeline performance and sales cycle dynamics by various product groupings.
  • Ensure that pipeline supports sales booking forecasts. Identify performance standards.
  • Conduct periodic operations reviews to cascade the strategy and ensure compliance.
  • Ensure that training programs support the ability of the sales organization to exceed the established performance measures.
  • Identify the key levers of account and sales performance for inclusion in reports distributed to sales management and senior management.
  • Ensure consistency of reporting among the regions worldwide.
  • Establish and build the capabilities of the global operations team to ensure consistency in procedures, reporting and implementation.
  • Ensure that sales technologies and systems support the global strategy. This includes but is not limited to Customer Relationship Management (CRM), sales force automation and sales collateral (proposal central and lead management).
  • Monitor on a regular basis and provide guidance to Senior Management on how to deliver on the commitments.
  • Partner with marketing to convert their initiatives into sales tools and resources.
  • Establish and implement performance measures for marketing initiatives as they relate to additional bookings, account performance, and corporate objectives.
  • Ensure communication is consistent and constant on what is working and what is not.
  • Work with corporate marketing and business units to build an organized product launch, retirement and upgrade schedule and plan for the broader sales organization.
  • Refine Pipeline Management and Forecasting Methodologies Lead Budget Development, Quota and Territory Initiatives
  • Represent Sales Organization to Executive Staff as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10+years of more senior experience in professional sales management/sales operations roles with P&L experience.
  • In-Depth knowledge and experience in sales operations in developing, implementing and assuring adherence to sales business practices and partner management programs.
  • Understanding and experience in project management methodology.
  • Background of introducing performance metrics and improvement programs
  • Ability to build and implement strategic and tactical measurement system.
  • High degree of personal integrity and strong ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a fast-paced, flexible, team based environment.
  • Proven experience in providing strategic guidance and operational oversight in the Sales Operations area in a growing company.
  • Strong ability to prioritize key initiatives, develop business cases for budgets and resource investments and align multiple operating units towards common business development goals.

Regional Sales Manager

Locations: Southern California, Boston, Atlanta

 

As a member of the Palo Alto Networks sales team you will report to the VP of Worldwide Sales. You and your Systems Engineer will be responsible for delivering our initial customers and growing your territory. You will be responsible for managing your territory to deliver above quota sales performance. Palo Alto Networks has chosen to go to market with Security Focused Channel partners; you will be responsible for identifying and signing appropriate channel partners and then training them on the Palo Alto solution.

 

Extensive domestic travel is required, International travel may be required as necessary.

 

Ideal candidates will have prior experience selling network infrastructure based security appliances including but not limited to: Firewalls, SSL/IPSec VPNs, Security Proxies and Caches. Candidates should also have practical knowledge of routing and switching products that will be installed adjacent to the Palo Alto Networks appliances.

 

Requirements:

  • BS technical degree or equivalent
  • 10+ years of above quota sales experience as a Regional Sales Manager

Other Requirements:

  • Self motivated
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills, both internally and externally
  • Enterprise sales experience with and actionable rolodex of decision makers
  • Superb organizational skills
  • "Whatever it takes" attitude and motivation to deliver above quota performance

Preferences:

  • Prior startup experience, experience being one of the first RSMs into an organization
  • Experience working with Channel partners and understanding of a channel centric go to market approach.

 

Pre-Sales System Engineer

Locations: Southern California, Boston, Atlanta, New York

As a charter member of the Palo Alto Networks sales team you and your Regional Sales Manager will be responsible for delivering the first customers for Version 1.0 of the product. You will be responsible for presenting the solution to prospective customers, creating and delivering demonstrations of the products, gathering customer technical requirements, creating evaluation test plans with customers, and then managing the evaluation process to a successful conclusion. You will work closely with customers as their primary point of contact for feedback and resolution of issues, and will be the customers’ advocate for issues that require assistance from the HQ TAC.

 

Extensive domestic travel is required, International travel may be required as necessary.

Ideal candidates will have prior experience selling network infrastructure based security appliances including but not limited to: Firewalls, SSL/IPSec VPNs, Security Proxies and Caches. Technical Requirements:

  • BSCS or equivalent and 8+ years of experience as an SE or systems integrator

  • Demonstrable experience with systems installation, configuration and administration of routers and UNIX/Linux and Windows-based systems

  • Experience that emphasizes IP Networking (routing, BGP, DHCP etc.)

Other Requirements:

  • Self motivated

  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills, both internally and externally

  • Strong problem solving skills, ability to analyze complex multivariate problems and use a systematic approach to gain quick resolution, often under duress

  • Super organizational skills

  • "Whatever it takes" attitude and motivation to do whatever necessary
    to assist in closing a deal

Engineering

Software Engineer (Senior positions)

As a member of the networking software group, you will be responsible for designing and developing next-generation firewall. You will take ownership for large software components, work with product management on user requirement, apply your knowledge to functional design, utilize you programming skills for efficient and robust implementation, and interact with quality assurance and field support team in the whole software development cycle.

 

Requirements:

  • Team player, can-do attitude and take initiative.
  • Good communication skills to work with cross-functional groups
  • Strong skills in large-scale software design and development
  • In-depth knowledge in select network security fields such as firewall, IPSec VPN, NAT, QoS, IPv6, remote access and various tunneling protocols
  • Working experience on control-plane signaling/configuration and/or dataplane forwarding
  • Experience with network processor programming preferred.
  • Proficient in C and familiar with Unix development environment, experience with multi-processor programming preferred

Software Development Engineer – Network Management GUI

Candidate will be developing web based graphical user interface for Palo Alto Networks security product and management software. Strong motivation to learn latest web technologies and apply to task at hand is required. The candidate will be using web client technologies for dynamic content, such as Dynamic HTML, Ajax, Javascript etc. The candidate will be responsible for significant pieces for current and future products. The candidate will be involved with all phases of product life cycle. An embedded web server will be used on the back end server side. Work with development team members, Q/A, technical publication and product management.

 

Responsibilities:

  • IIndividual contribution for product development.
  • Ownership of large software components.
  • Use of latest web technologies for client and server side.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience in web based product development, preferably for a networking appliance.
  • Excellent knowledge of HTML, Javascript, Style Sheets.
  • Previous experience of Ajax for product development.
  • Development experience on Linux system is a plus.
  • Product development experience on C is required.
  • Extensive background in internetworking, LAN, and WAN technologies highly desired.
  • Strong ability to independently debug development issues.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Education:

  • BS/MS in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience required.

Network Security Research Engineer

As a Network Security Research Engineer, you will be part of a team that develops security content to power the next-generation firewall for providing application visibility and control for our customers. You will work on Internet application behavior research, vulnerability analysis, application decoding, signature development, as well as creating other tools to help to deliver the best security content for our products.

 

Requirements:

  • Solid programming skills and an indepth understanding of TCP/IP networking and layer 7 protocols.
  • Hands-on experience with protocol decoding/implementation.
  • Good knowledge of contemporary security concepts and problems.
  • Good communication skills & team-spirit.
  • Willing to take initiatives and get things done independently.

Education:

  • MS or higher degree in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
