New Research from Forrester and IANS on the Impact of Enterprise 2.0
Forrester Research recently conducted a survey of IT decision makers from large enterprises in North America and Europe to gauge their attitudes toward Enterprise 2.0 applications and understand their policies and procedures for controlling their usage. The findings from this recent survey are revealed in this on-demand webcast. Viewers will learn:

  • What types of Enterprise 2.0 applications are being adopted and what security risks they pose.
  • What policies organizations have in place that govern appropriate use of these applications.
  • Which control mechanisms IT departments have today vs. what they need.
  • How ineffective first generation security solutions are.
  • What steps an organization can take for the safe enablement of Enterprise 2.0 applications.

Watch now.

IANS, a leading research company focused on information security, has just published their risk assessment of adopting Web 2.0 technologies in the enterprise. Among their key findings are:

  • Deployment of Web 2.0 technologies within enterprises for business purposes is among the most significant business and technical developments in 2010.
  • Web 2.0 creates severe tensions between the business need to increase information liquidity and the need to protect and restrict the flow of private and sensitive information. Numerous risks are emerging that organizational leaders are only now beginning to understand.
  • IANS research clients are initially struggling with the question of whether to block use of these technologies or not, based primarily on the culture and policies of the organization.
  • Proxies, URL filtering, and content filtering create frustration and dissatisfaction for security teams due to insufficient granularity and constricted visibility. Newer breed firewalls are being rapidly adopted to maintain security and manage overall risk posture.

About Palo Alto Networks
Palo Alto Networks was founded in 2005 with a mission to create a family of next generation firewalls that allow IT organizations to regain visibility and control of Internet applications and traffic on their network. The firewalls were designed to meet five important requirements:

  • Visibility into all applications, regardless of port, protocol, evasive tactic – or even SSL encryption
  • Identification of application users by name – not just by IP address
  • Granular control of application access, by user or groups of users
  • Real-time threat prevention, content control, and URL filtering
  • In-line throughput up to 10gbps, with no performance degradation

To address these requirements, Palo Alto Networks firewalls combine innovative new identification technologies, such as App-ID, User-ID, and Content-ID, all leveraging an underlying Single-Pass Parallel Processing Architecture (SP3), which ensures maximum throughput with minimum latency.
