Microsoft is no longer supporting Windows XP users with patches and security updates, but [Palo Alto Networks offers multiple ways of protecting Windows XP customers](https://www.paloaltonetworks.com/blog/2014/04/palo-alto-networks-has-windows-xp-users-covered/?ts=markdown), including the discovery of unknown exploits using [WildFire](https://www.paloaltonetworks.com/products/technologies/wildfire.html?ts=markdown) and the blocking of known vulnerability exploits using [Threat Prevention](https://www.paloaltonetworks.com/solutions/initiative/threat-prevention.html?ts=markdown), regardless of port, protocol or encryption.

Now, thanks to our [recent acquisition of Cyvera](https://www.paloaltonetworks.com/company/press/2014/palo-alto-networks-completes-acquisition-of-cyvera.html?ts=markdown), we can also extend protection of Windows XP directly to the millions of endpoints still using the operating system.

A few weeks ago, Cyvera announced TRAPS XP Agent, a software agent designed to protect against cyberattacks on endpoints running legacy XP OS. As part of the [Cyvera TRAPS](http://cyvera.com/products/cyvera-traps/) (Targeted Remote Attack Prevention System) product line of client-based endpoint agents with centralized management, TRAPS XP Agent stops an attack before harmful activity occurs.

TRAPS technology is based on obstruction and deception of the attacker -- placing traps and obstacles across every conceivable path an attack could take. TRAPS is not based on signature detection or behavioral analysis, and therefore requires no signatures or definitions update, or prior knowledge of a given attack, in order to prevent an attack.

TRAPS XP Agent is available worldwide, and we invite Palo Alto Networks customers to learn more as the integration of Palo Alto Networks and Cyvera continues.
