## **Extending Code to Cloud™ Platform with Innovative Data Security for the Generative AI Era**

The digital landscape is undergoing a profound shift. Cloud native transformation and the fast pace of application development, driven by advances in generative AI, have led to a significant rise in data sprawl. As many large enterprises rely on hybrid cloud and multicloud environments, it is becoming increasingly challenging to know with confidence whether or not your data is secured.

The data sprawl across public clouds, while offering flexibility and scalability, raises concerns about the security of sensitive data. The [2023 IBM Cost of a Data Breach Report](https://www.ibm.com/reports/data-breach) revealed that over 80% of recent data breaches involved data stored in the cloud. As if this attack surface was not challenging enough, the rapid rise and adoption of large language models (LLMs) and generative AI within enterprise applications have created new threat vectors involving sensitive data stored in the cloud.

In modern organizations, managing cloud data has become more complex due to multiple databases and data stores tied to cloud native applications, which are spread across various cloud providers. Security and data governance teams continue to grapple with several pressing questions:

1. Where is my data stored in the cloud? Do I have any sensitive data exposed?
2. Are there any ongoing threats and data breaches happening in my environment?
   1. Are any data stores enumerated and exposed to external entities?
   2. Is there an ongoing data exfiltration to an external account?
3. What is my list of prioritized data security risks taking into account the context of application and cloud?
4. How can I mitigate or remediate these risks?
   1. Can I revoke access to a suspicious user or an entity exhibiting anomalous behavior on sensitive data stores?
5. How can I report on security and compliance posture and track it over time?

The urgency of these questions cannot be overstated, and answering them cannot happen in silos or with homegrown tools.
