Palo Alto Networks Launches Global Cyber Range Initiative and Opens First Dedicated Facility in Amsterdam

Helps Security Professionals Stay Sharp in the Fight Against Sophisticated Cyber Adversaries

AMSTERDAM, 15 January 2018 – Palo Alto Networks® (NYSE: PANW), the next-generation security company, today announced the launch of its new global Cyber Range initiative. By providing permanent Cyber Range capabilities for its customers in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, the Americas and the Asia-Pacific region, the company is working to build and improve effective skills for cybersecurity challenges today and in the future.

Today’s security professionals are dealing with a complex and rapidly evolving environment. The falling cost of computing power means that cybercriminals are better resourced today and don’t rely on one vector to carry out attacks on organizations.

The Palo Alto Networks Cyber Range activity includes network simulations and cyberattack exercises that enable enterprise security professionals to build on their security skills, maturity, efficacy, communications and processes. The scenarios include both single and multi-vector attacks, which are continually updated to remain relevant to all participants and give them timely training on the very latest threats and most advanced real-world malware, such as ransomware.

Professionals can build on their understanding of today’s most advanced threats; improve their internal team communications and processes; and improve skills in identifying and preventing threats with real-time use of the Palo Alto Networks Next-Generation Security Platform.

The dedicated facility within Palo Alto Networks Europe, Middle East and Africa headquarters in Amsterdam is the first Cyber Range location, with further launches planned for the Americas and the Asia-Pacific region. The facility was officially opened today by Palo Alto Networks chairman and chief executive officer, Mark McLaughlin.

  • “Addressing cyberthreats is only possible by combining innovative technology, skilled security professionals, and effective security best practices. Palo Alto Networks Cyber Range tests all three, helping security professionals stay ready to defend against increasingly complex and skilled adversaries. With cyber skills in short supply globally, Palo Alto Networks is working with its customers to give security professionals the capabilities, as well as the tools, to prevent successful cyberattacks”
    • Mark McLaughlin, chairman and chief executive officer, Palo Alto Networks

Palo Alto Networks Cyber Range is free of charge to those who have completed a Palo Alto Networks Ultimate Test Drive, or who have regular experience with a Next-Generation Firewall. Additional permanent facilities are planned to open in selected Palo Alto Networks locations throughout 2018.
