Many modern databases can be configured to accept these cryptographic identities, removing the need for developers to handle sensitive database credentials. ### Multi-Cloud and Hybrid Cloud Federation SPIFFE allows a workload running in an on-premises data center to securely communicate with a service in a public cloud. By exchanging trust bundles across different SPIFFE trust domains, organizations can create a unified identity plane spanning their global footprint.
