Palo Alto Networks Achieves FedRAMP Ready Status for WildFire

Governments continue to embrace cloud to reduce the cost of shared services, create services faster, and serve and engage citizens in the digital age. Momentum from previous years’ data center consolidation effort and cloud-first policy, combined with the Modernizing Government Technology Act in the U.S, are propelling more agencies into the cloud. Yet they must ensure effective cybersecurity for all services in cloud environments and any services they consume from the cloud. In the U.S, this means ensuring certifications of cloud products and services with FedRAMP.

Palo Alto Networks continues to make investments to meet the needs of governments as they embrace cloud-delivered services. Our WildFire® malware analysis service, a cloud-native service, has received FedRAMP Ready status from the U.S. Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP). This designation acknowledges Palo Alto Networks has completed a readiness assessment and is likely to attain a FedRAMP Moderate authority to operate (ATO) for WildFire with a federal agency sponsor.

As Nick Urick, Vice President of Federal Sales, said during Federal Ignite 2018: “The FedRAMP Ready status for WildFire reaffirms our company commitment to supporting our federal government customers as they transition to highly secure cloud services. Using WildFire’s advanced threat prevention and analysis capabilities, agencies can block never-before-seen targeted and general threats at all government locations, from computers in the field or in the department, to cloud instances and networks.”

WildFire has long supported the public sector with an on-premises deployment option. With FedRAMP authorization, U.S. agencies and other affiliated organizations will be able to confidently use WildFire from the cloud to automatically prevent the latest threats from infiltrating their networks—within five minutes of being detected anywhere in the world.

Governments around the world rely on Palo Alto Networks as a strategic vendor to secure their networks, endpoints, remote users and cloud environments.
